We live as long as we fly

and they have a plan

A few days ago the final episode of Battlestar Galactica came out, and yesterday I watched it. What can I say. It started out not bad, but towards the end I was spitting mad – because they pushed this mystical-moralizing propaganda that I really dislike. Especially this favorite motif of many sci-fi and non-sci-fi writers pisses me off: “Technology and progress have led us to a dead end, because we (humanity) do not think about the development of the soul and moral qualities.”

On the internet they call it like this: “And the answer is simple - lack of grace.” (See lurkmore)

They can all go take a hike, these lovers of unity with nature and spirituality, especially the ones who meanwhile enjoy all the benefits of modern civilization.

Fortunately, at the very end of the grand finale the writers came to their senses and pulled off a great joke. And the stuff about Kara Thrace wasn't bad either, even if it was a bit too mystical.

Overall, what makes the series great is the level of detail, the graphics, and the characters.

All in all, the series isn't a 10, but close. And I'll do what the great pirate, cinephile, and music lover  walkabout_d does, and give it a fractional rating – 8.7. Something like that.

And, of course, 3> Tricia Helfer, aka Cylon Number 6. Checked Wikipedia, by the way, and it turns out she's already 35. Oops, busted! Now someone will think I'm a gerontophile, especially considering the previous post of love for Lisa Edelstein.

Tricia, by the way, is from a farming family, she didn't even have a TV. But she made up for it later – worked as a model.  By the way, she has cats. And also said in an interview that the actor James Callis, who plays Gaius Baltar, is actually smart and well-read in real life. Gaius, by the way, also turned out to be a great character, but they're all good in there.

A naked man in glasses is standing in shallow water, covering his genitals with his hands and looking down. On the right, part of another person's arm is visible, and in the background — reeds.

A studio portrait of a woman with short wavy blonde hair and blue eyes, looking up and to the left, wearing a black top against a dark background.

A blonde in a red dress with a gold bracelet hugs a man from behind, staring intently at the viewer. The man in a dark patterned robe with green lapels looks thoughtfully upwards, holding his collar with his hands.

Three women in different outfits pose against a gray stone wall. On the left, a blonde in a black leather jacket, in the center, a blonde in a tight red dress, on the right, a woman in a khaki jacket and cargo pants.

And one more thing. Despite the fact that to meet six billion people you would need at least 190 years (if you see one person a second), the globe is actually very small.

Why?

Well, for example, I noticed that Tricia appeared with the  Mythbusters at one conference, NVISION 08. Ok, they're celebrities, nothing surprising there.

But the fact that I absolutely by chance (when I was looking for photos for you, normal ones, mind you, not with the keyword pr0n) stumbled upon a page with erotic photos of Tricia taken by Playboy magazine, and the author there writes that his site was shut down following a complaint from a certain Tatiana, is impossible to explain away so easily. The thing is, I kind of met with a certain Tatiana from Playboy, she's a lawyer, and supposedly works with the web.

But I'll still never believe in mysticism anyway. Watch the latest House episode titled Here Kitty, and do the same. And then you won't need any grace or spirituality.
